About Facebookdown

Facebookdown is a free, browser-based tool for saving publicly available Facebook media. You paste a link, the tool resolves the public media behind it, and you save the file to your device. That is the entire product. There is no account to create, no application to install, and no subscription to cancel.

It began from a simple frustration: Facebook has no built-in way to keep a copy of a video you want to watch later, on a commute, on a flight, or anywhere the signal is unreliable. A tool that turns a link into a file, without demanding a sign-up first, solves that in a few seconds.

The site works in any modern browser on a phone, tablet, or desktop, and it is free to everyone who uses it.

You copy the address of a public Facebook video, reel, photo, or story and paste it into the input box on the home page. The tool requests the publicly available media that the address points to, reads the formats that are on offer, and shows you the download options that exist for that item.

You pick a quality or format, and the file is delivered to your browser's downloads. Nothing is added to a personal library on our side, because there is no personal library — no account means no download history to keep.

The dedicated pages for reels, stories, photos, live video, and private video are all the same engine with the interface tuned to that kind of link. Using one rather than another does not change what the tool can reach.

Free means free. The tool is supported by advertising rather than by a paywall, a trial that expires, or a premium tier that unlocks the resolution you actually wanted.

No sign-up means no sign-up. We do not want your email address in order to give you a file, and we do not build a profile of what you save. The privacy policy sets out exactly what does reach us, which is mostly the ordinary server logs that any website generates.

Speed and clarity matter more than features. A page that loads quickly, a box you paste into, and a button that works are worth more than a crowded interface, so we keep the tool deliberately plain.

We do not reach private content. The tool works only with media that Facebook already serves publicly to a visitor who is not logged in; it does not bypass a login or defeat a privacy setting, and we will not add a way to do so.

We do not host anything. No media that passes through the service is published, indexed, or kept as a library on our side, and there is no gallery of what other people have downloaded.

Every video and photo this tool can reach was made by someone. Copyright in that work stays with its creator, and downloading a copy for personal offline viewing is not permission to republish it, monetise it, or present it as your own.
